e-Learning Guidelines and how to use them
March 14, 2.00 – 3.30

The e-Learning Quality Guidelines for New Zealand can help teachers, support staff and managers effectively use e-learning. The guidelines enable a community of practitioners to share good practice and will be of value in staff development and planning within an organisation. Find out how various organisations are using the guidelines in this Elluminate video conference.

An important aspect of the guidelines is that need to be localised for the institution or the situation. You can do this in a variety of ways:

  • Focus on a few of the guidelines and work on implementing them into the organisation. Then add the lessons learnt to the wiki to share with others.
  • Work on particular technologies such as podcasting or mobile technologies and share guidelines on the successful implementation of the technology.
  • Develop local versions of the guidelines that help the organisation with your quality processes.
  • Use the guidelines in staff development.

These approaches will be discussed in the video conference. You will have the opportunity to explore the guidelines and discuss how you can use them.

John is the project manager in the Implementation of e-Learning Guidelines project funded by the TEC Innovation and Development Fund. He was part of the team that developed the guidelines in 2005. He has worked in the tertiary sector in New Zealand and the UK and in the compulsory sector at the NZ Correspondence School. John looks forward to meeting you at the video conference.
